The driest place on Earth is the Atacama Desert in Chile. Some parts of the desert haven't seen any measurable rainfall in more than 500 years.

The shortest scheduled commercial flight in the world lasts just 1.5 minutes. It connects the Scottish islands of Westray and Papa Westray and covers a distance of only about 1.7 miles (2.7 kilometers).

The world's largest living organism is a fungus. A honey fungus in the Blue Mountains of Oregon covers an area of about 2,385 acres (965 hectares), making it the largest organism by area. 

The northern lights, or aurora borealis, result from solar particles colliding with Earth's atmosphere, generating vivid displays of color and motion near the magnetic poles.

The average person will spend about 25 years of their life asleep. This equates to roughly one-third of a person's total lifespan. 

Japan experiences about 1,500 earthquakes each year, due to its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area with high seismic activity.
